"The creation of art, like the writing of poetry, is that process of honoring a fragment of life."- Denise Fontaine-Pincince

"The creation of art, like the writing of poetry, is that process of honoring a fragment of life."
- Denise Fontaine-Pincince

Before coming to art and poetry, Denise owned a private elementary school and a large day care center. In 2005, she sold her 25-year-old business to pursue the arts. After earning an MFA in Creative Writing with a concentration in poetry from Lesley University, she began to exhibit her assemblage art and ‘visual poetry’ throughout Massachusetts and New York. Her poetry has been published in numerous journals and anthologies.

An educator at heart, Denise facilitates month-long ‘Art with Poetry’ workshops in the schools, and provides CEU-approved training workshops for teachers of young children on how to build literacy skills through poetry and percussion. She also offers art and/ or poetry classes to groups or individuals off site or in her Belchertown studio.

In addition to working with students and educators, Denise is a member of two local poetry groups, facilitates drum circles, and volunteers for the Palmer Public Library scheduling their monthly art exhibits, and hosting their annual poetry pageant.

When she's not teaching, writing, or creating art, Denise enjoys life on the water with her husband Ken. Read about it on her blog, Periwinkle Adventures.
